IHF to launch i-to-i Innovation Hub at 46th World Hospital Congress
The International Hospital Federation (IHF) has announced a new forum to connect innovators and healthcare leaders – an exciting addition to the programme for the World Hospital Congress 2023.
The i-to-i Innovation Hub will showcase cutting-edge innovations from across the globe at the IHF’s annual Congress, taking place from 25 to 27 October 2023. The solutions featured at the Hub will demonstrate their impact in moving i-to-i (“from innovation to implementation”) in hospital and healthcare-delivery settings. The IHF will present the Hub in collaboration with the UK Department for Business and Trade, and Stanford Medicine.
Ronald Lavater, CEO of the IHF, explained the driving vision for the Hub:
“We know that hospital-centred healthcare is undergoing rapid and dramatic systemic change in all corners of the globe. Today’s healthcare leaders need to navigate a changing workforce, climate change, AI and digital medicine, pandemic readiness, and many more operational demands.
At the IHF, our core mission is to support those leaders to excel in service delivery, improving health outcomes for everyone, everywhere. To ensure our network of members are leading the way in building the hospital of the future, the i-to-i Innovation Hub will bring innovative approaches to healthcare delivery into the World Hospital Congress, creating a forum for innovators and leaders to engage.”
The Hub will showcase 10 to 15 companies that are using innovative approaches to improve the quality and efficiency of patient-centred care. In 2023, the solutions will be selected under the theme of “hospital care outside the hospital setting”. The Hub will have a bespoke space at the Congress venue, promoting collaboration, and enabling participants to engage directly with the featured innovators. The physical forum for dialogue will also benefit the innovators, who can learn from open discussion with hospital leaders on the challenges they face. A series of ignite talks from the innovators will be built into the Congress programme to highlight the transition from pilot to integration within healthcare-delivery settings.
Aphrodite Spanou, Director, Science & Technology Directorate, Department for Business and Trade, UK Government shared the healthcare system’s focus on innovation:
“We are delighted to be part of the i-to-i Innovation Hub and look forward to showcasing UK patient-centric innovations. What epitomises these innovations is their ability to offer effective, efficacious, and safe solutions.
Evolving healthcare needs may mean that countries are often faced with challenges in delivering quality healthcare; these can be supported by effectual UK healthcare approaches and expertise covering a wide spectrum of services and products from clinical assessment to diagnosis, and from treatment to recovery.
The UK’s leading NHS hospitals and broader healthcare ecosystem has and will continue to work with overseas healthcare partners to turn these challenges into solutions. The NHS is the world’s largest publicly funded health system. It brings over 75 years’ experience of innovation which includes clinical pathways to guide evidence-based healthcare, science, technology and data utilisation for preventive medicine and early detection of diseases, in addition to world renowned clinical training.”
David Entwistle, President and CEO, Stanford Health Care added:
"Breakthroughs in technology and medicine are happening faster than ever before, presenting an opportunity to improve human health. At Stanford Medicine, we're invested in exploring and implementing new approaches to enhance the quality and efficiency of care delivery.
We have the opportunity to foster new collaborations, share transformative solutions, and continue our collective progress in realizing the full potential of this moment.”
