Learn new strategies and approaches to sustaining the healthcare workforce

30 September 2022
We are counting down the days until the 45th IHF World Hospital Congress. Have you booked your tickets yet? Register now to secure your spot in the world’s premier healthcare management conference where you can engage in a 360-degree learning and knowledge-sharing experience within the global healthcare community. The healthcare workforce is the cornerstone of the health system in every country and are dependent on the availability, accessibility, and quality of healthcare workers to reach the highest standards of health provision. Mark your calendars with some of these parallel sessions under the sub-theme “The People Agenda” to learn new strategies and approaches in sustaining the healthcare workforce:

This session will address the challenges facing the post-pandemic hospital and healthcare workforce, as well as propose solutions for “burnout” and severe staffing shortages. Speakers will share their experiences from Georgia, France, Spain, and the United States. Featured presentations will discuss a variety of challenges and solutions, such as skills mismatch, medical demography, organizational transformation, and value-based culture building.

Effective, accessible healthcare means finding and supporting a resilient healthcare workforce that understands the needs of the diverse populations they serve. This session will feature short paper presentations about innovations from across the world in supporting staff needs, strengthening training pipelines, testing new approaches to care, and more.

Attracting, developing, and retaining healthcare staff is essential for the effective delivery of health services. In this lightning talks session, participants will hear successful workforce strategies international healthcare leaders have deployed, including anchor institution initiatives, leadership development, nurse-patient communications, physician engagement, staff motivations, stay interviews, and virtual learning. This session is chaired by Dr Joel Roos, Vice President of International Accreditation, Quality Improvement, and Patient Safety for Joint Commission International (JCI).
